Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the FHJobSearch iOS app and its backend service (together, “FHJobSearch”) collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. FHJobSearch is operated by FH Development Studio, LLC (“we”, “us”).

The short version: we collect only what is needed to run your job searches and send you alerts. We do not show ads, we do not track you across other apps or websites, we do not use third-party analytics, and we never sell your data.

Information we collect

Account information

• An internal account identifier that we generate.
• Your email address and display name. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive a stable Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address (which may be an Apple private relay address if you pick “Hide My Email”). If you sign up with an email address and password, we store your password only as a salted, one-way hash.

Search profiles you create

• Profile names, target job titles and title variations, fields or industries, required, nice-to-have, and excluded keywords, locations, remote or on-site preference, seniority levels, and salary floor.
• Your company watchlist, muted companies, and which job sources a profile searches.
• Alert settings: match-score threshold, delivery mode (instant, digest, or off), and quiet hours.

Saved jobs and your application tracker

• Jobs you save, their tracker status, priority, tags, notes, reminders, and applied date.
• Any application details you choose to record, such as the application link, which résumé version you used, and a hiring contact’s name and email.

Matches and activity in the app

• The match scores and match explanations we calculate for jobs against your profiles.
• Actions you take on matches, such as saving or dismissing a job, so your feed stays relevant.

Device and notification information

• If you allow notifications, your Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token, device platform, app version, and whether alerts are enabled for that device.
• A history of the alerts generated for your account (title, message, delivery status, and time).

Sign-in sessions and server logs

• When you sign in, we issue a session token. The app keeps it in the iOS Keychain on your device; our server stores only a one-way hash of it, plus when it was last used.
• Like most web services, our servers may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, time, and the request made) for security and troubleshooting.

Information we do not collect

• No advertising and no ad identifiers. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
• No third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
• No access to your device location. Locations in your search profiles are only the text you type.
• No access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or health data.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers.

How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
• To scan job listings and score them against your search profiles.
• To send the job alerts you ask for, respecting your threshold, delivery mode, and quiet hours.
• To store your saved jobs, tracker, and notes so they are available across sessions.
• To respond to support requests and to keep the service secure and working.

Where job listings come from

FHJobSearch collects job postings from public job-board feeds and employer career pages, such as those hosted on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters, Workable, Recruitee, and similar platforms, as well as public job data such as USAJOBS. Our servers fetch these listings on their own; matching against your profiles happens on our servers, and we do not send your personal information, search profiles, or saved jobs to those job boards or employers.

When you choose to apply for a job, FHJobSearch opens the employer’s own website. Anything you submit there is handled by that employer or its job-board provider under their own privacy policy, not this one.

Service providers

We share information only with the providers we need to run FHJobSearch, and only for that purpose:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts our servers and database.
• Apple Push Notification service receives your device token and the contents of an alert (for example, the job title, company, and location) in order to deliver notifications to your device.
• Sign in with Apple authenticates you when you choose that option. Apple handles your Apple Account credentials; we never see your Apple password.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users, the public, or FHJobSearch.

Retention and deleting your account

We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app under Account > Delete account. Deletion takes effect immediately: your account, search profiles, matches, saved jobs, tracker notes, device tokens, alert history, and sign-in sessions are removed from our database and cannot be recovered. You can also ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected] from the email address on your account.

Any copies in routine server backups are removed as those backups expire. Job listings are shared across all users and are not part of your personal data, so they are not affected when you delete your account.

If you signed in with Apple, you can also stop using Sign in with Apple for FHJobSearch in your iPhone’s Settings under your Apple Account.

Your choices and rights

• View, edit, or delete your search profiles, saved jobs, and notes at any time in the app.
• Turn notifications off in the app or in iOS Settings.
• Sign out, which removes the session token from your device.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as to access, correct, or obtain a copy of your data. Email us and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Security

Data sent between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Passwords and session tokens are stored only as one-way hashes, and the app stores your session token in the iOS Keychain. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to keep what we collect to a minimum.

Children

FHJobSearch is a job-search tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as FHJobSearch changes. When we do, we will update the effective date above, and for significant changes we will take reasonable steps to let you know, such as a notice in the app.
